The miners’ strike and the Thatcher years as a backdrop, and one question underneath it: what does solidarity mean once it starts to cost you something personally?

Rather than seat the audience in front of the story, we put them inside it. The show took the form of a fundraising party for the strike, with music and bingo, so that political history arrived as a social occasion instead of a history lesson. Nobody watched a community from the outside; for one evening they were in one.
